Carter Fold
Hiltons, Virginia
The Carter Family Fold is a cultural landmark and music venue in rural Southwest Virginia. The original facility had dirt floors with seating carved out into the hillside. Carpet remnant-covered logs were used to sit on. The side and back of the structure were open air.
The renovation of the existing facility included pouring a concrete slab for the stadium seating installation and expanding the seating area to 842 seats. The back and sides of the building were enclosed and rolling steel doors were installed to maintain the openness of the original facility and allow the sound of bluegrass music to spill out into the valley on a Saturday night. The performance stage, lighting, restrooms, and snack bare were also upgraded as part of this renovation.
